or were Stewart and Colbert better during the writers' strike? Don't get me wrong. I'm not hating writers. I love writers. I would quit my life and be a TV and movie writer today if I was offered a job. I started a creative writing degree, in fact. I'm the biggest wannabe writer on the block. So writers in general, I love.

But my favourite parts of the/a Daily Show and the Colbert Report were always the off-the-cuff jokes anyway. And Stewart's self-effacing "Aren't we all dumb? Let's be dumb together" humour works so much better when it isn't pre-written. It seemed like there was a different energy on those shows during the writers' strike. If the show was complete crap, they couldn't be blamed; in fact, we were happy that they were on at all, so why not just have fun? And I had more fun watching.

I'm just saying.
